Business valuation professionals with accreditation from the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) enjoy one of the most prestigious and widely-recognized credentials offered. ASA business valuation analysts have been recognized and accorded expert status by a variety of both U.S. and international courts and governmental agencies.

In 1981, ASA recognized the business valuation profession had evolved to a sufficient level of knowledge and professionalism to be recognized as a separate appraisal discipline. At that time, the ASA established the Business Valuation Committee and began accrediting members in the business valuation discipline. Thus, ASA was a pioneering business valuation professional organization.

Membership and accreditation by the American Society of Appraisers in Business Valuation is acknowledgement that the business valuation professional has reached the top of his profession.

ASA HELPS YOU SUCCEED

If you are a business appraiser or interested in the business appraisal profession, the American Society of Appraisers can help you succeed in your practice. By educating, testing and awarding designations to appraisers across six disciplines, ASA ensures that you receive the education, information and tools you need to become a recognized leader in the profession.

The best place to start is by participating in ASA's Principles of Valuation courses. We emphasize practical, specific tools and appraisal methods that you can use every day.

For your convenience, ASA conducts courses at sites throughout the United States and abroad. ASA also sponsors continuing education seminars, presentations and workshops at its conferences.

Report Writing Guidelines and Checklist

The report-writing guidelines and checklist have been developed by the Business Valuation Committee to assist Candidates working toward their accreditation in business valuation.

The guidelines and checklist are to be used in the preparation of reports that will be reviewed by Business Valuation members of the International Board of Examiners.

Every report that is submitted by a Candidate must be accompanied by completed review checklist (one checklist for each report). Any report that is submitted without a completed checklist will be returned to the Candidate.

Any other questions regarding the guidelines or the checklist should be directed to Giovanna Fernandez, membership coordinator, at (800) 272-8258, ext. 133, or giovanna@appraisers.org.
